Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave,
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
That is my question on this July 4th day. I’m much more worried about the people than the flag. Are we still free and brave?
We owe it to the Founding Fathers to keep what they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to give us.
The signing of the Declaration of Independence wasn’t free.
Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, tortured and killed.
Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned.
Several had to move constantly and died alone and bankrupt.
Nine died from wounds or hardships of the revolutionary war.
Two lost their sons in the revolutionary army, another had two sons captured.
For the first time in history a government was instituted not to rule, but to protect individual rights. Let’s not ever forget this legacy.
The brave heroes in my medical-political thriller DISSECTION fight against all odds to keep our country safe.
