Think again!
I got criticism from a few readers about the premise of DISSECTION as too unrealistic.
While writing the book, I took great care to stay within the “fringe of science.”
I decided to clarify what in my book is real today and what is futuristic and not here yet.
WARNING: SPOILER ALERT!!! In case you have not read DISSECTION. https://amzn.to/3iyfJVO
Facts:
1)Ultrasounds are used TODAY to break up calcium inside the arteries, and one of the complication IS A DISSECTION. So, ultrasounds can cause dissections. See the deadly cards and other devices in DISSECTION.
2) Ultrasounds are used TODAY to treat cancer (Ex prostate cancer.) See biophysicist Silvana Moretti’s work.
3) Ultrasounds are used TODAY to reduce pain and inflammation after soft tissue injury. See the device Silvana MORETTI uses to treat the injuries toward the end of the book.
4) The substance I mention in the book CAN block ultrasounds, I found it on Google. See the shield Kirk wears during his mission to save the world.
5) The terrible weapon I mention in my book exists TODAY, I found it on Google. See the weapon used by the terrorist.
6) TODAY there are optical probes to detect inflammation, such as ultrasounds, MRI, PET scanning. See the Moretti’s device, used to detect early inflammation and injury.
Futuristic (not for long):
The black cube to program the chips.
The chips activated by touching.
Many authors wrote about futuristic devices, not existing at the time their book was published.
Ex. Ayn Rand, in “Atlas Shrugged” described a “miracle metal, much stronger than steel (today we have some plastic stronger than steel) and a new motor, running on solar energy (here now!)
I enjoy imagine and featuring in my books what may be possible in the future, giving the power of science.
I hope my readers enjoy it as well.
